Flip-Flap Valve closing mechanism
100% shut-off of downstream and upstream of LNG in the transfer system is delivered by the KLAW Flip-Flap Valve system.
The key advantages of this system are its simplicity and its ability to deliver successful operation within a wide spectrum of circumstances beyond that of other closure systems. The KLAW Flip-Flap Valve system also delivers low pressure drop characteristics. This maintains efficiency and improved transfer times.
Conceptual demonstration of the Flip-Flap Valve Mechanism using Sequential Closure illustrations
- Internal Flaps are positioned in line with media flow. These keep each other open, offering minimum headloss.
- As the Emergency Release Coupling begins to separate, the discs flip through a controlled arc.
- The discs snap onto their seats – providing 100% shut-off.
- With the Valves now closed, the separation sequence continues and with the Collar now detached, the coupling separates.
